The CLK drives effortlessly thanks to its seven-speed transmission and the highly refined manu-matic with paddle-shift capability. AMG equips the quick shifting automatic with a tightly calibrated torque converter. It does not produce any jerking when shifting.
A switch found on the center console allows you to select Manual, Sport, and Comfort mode. These options allow you to calibrate the speed in which the transmission takes hold of the next gear and can hold each gear to the redline.
The CLK convertible is balanced well for a road car and stays true to its sporting roots. It is equipped with Mercedes' quick response body control system. The CLK coupe was dropped from the line-up last year and they have not made any plans to bring it back. For now we will have to stick with the 2007 CLK63 AMG convertible. But that is find with us because it is the better of the two.
