For more than 30 years I thought that by paying extra for a Mercedes Benz I would be getting better quality vehicles however it appears that over the last few years this is not so. My A class bought new in 2000, after only 77,000 kms needed a complete gearbox overhaul. My requests to MB for after warranty assistance were met with refusal due to "age and kms travelled".
My Mercedes Benz vehicles have all been well cared for and dealer serviced. How can this now happen and not be of concern to MB who, by the way, were unable to carry out the overhaul and sent my vehicle to a transmission repair shop?
The service adviser said I should pay for the repair and he felt very positive about obtaining financial assistance from Mercedes Benz. He continued to let me believe that Mercedes Benz would be forthcoming until I had paid and received my vehicle back. He really led me on.
I have been in touch with the Customer Service Department by telephone and have been told that the only way I could take this matter further is by emailing the Customer Service Manager. No reply has been received from him after three emailed requests.
I must therefore assume that this is what I can expect from the other two Mercedes Benz vehicles we have in the family.
Some questions arising from this are:
Why is Mercedes Benz unable to repair a gearbox?
Why does a Mercedes Benz gearbox only last for 77,000 kms?
